Now I know I’m mixing my sci-fi, but I’m allowed. Round two of my episode analysis has begun! So far,
Star Trek: Enterprise – 1 Vanessa – 0
I think I’m mostly just trying to do too much at once. Last time I watched these episodes, I was trying to look at plot, aesthetics, count different events, read articles on my topic, AND somehow synthesize all of it into a beautiful paper (because I would never write anything else). Obviously, too much at once … my paper was not so hot.
SO, I’ve got a meeting with my professor again today and we’ll get a chance to tear it apart (and then I’ll get to put it back together again). Since I wrote that last draft, I’ve had a lot more time to read and think about the shifts in American identity after 9/11. Now I have a better idea of what to look for, last time I was sort of floundering. I’ve already made it through 4 episodes and I can see a huge difference in my ability to analyze them! This time around, I can focus on quotes and other details that will support the bigger themes I’ve found.
Still, I’m nowhere near being done with this round of viewing … back to the couch!
So, Star Trek is kicking your butt huh? That is too funny!! Well I hope that you have fun sitting on the couch all day and watching Star Trek (cause I know that is my closeted trekker dream…) But I know I couldn’t analyze as in depth at these things as you do, so yay for you!! haha ok back to work…
To be honest, I’m pretty sure it’s karma – that’s why Trek is kicking my butt … alllll those years where I strayed, loving other shows more.
Like, Farscape or Stargate ….. ah Ben Browder, I adore you! *sigh*
